Can You Believe? A Gift From God For You!

More than 2,000 years ago, God did an amazing thing. He sent His Son down from Heaven and He became a human, a man by the name of Jesus Christ. He was both God's Son and God in human flesh. (Colossians 2:9) The time had come for God to make a way for forgiveness of sin and eternal life for all who believe in His Son. (John 3:16)

First, before the Good News. Why did God do this?

We were all made by God for His good pleasure. (Colossians 1:16) We were made to love, worship, praise and give Him thanks. (Psalm 100:4) Everyone of us have failed which has resulted in a great separation between God and mankind.

    1. Scripture tells us that God is holy. He's righteous. He's just...and...we are not. (Isaiah 5:16)

    2. We are also told that we have all (everyone) sinned and the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

    3. Our unforgiven sin separates us from God who is holy, righteous and sinless. (Isaiah 59:2)

    4. The result is a great gap between mankind and God.

How does that leave us?

We are left with a restlessness or gnawing emptiness that needs to be filled. No matter how much we reach for, we are never really satisfied. There's a heavyness, a feeling of guilt. We long for peace and joy, but can't find it anywhere. Our future is unknown. And then there is the fear of death.

What will happen to us?

The Bible foretells the future by teaching us that every human being will be brought before the judgment throne of God and Jesus Christ Himself will be the judge. (Hebrews 9:27   2 Corinthians 5:10)

It's like we will be taken to the Highest Supreme Court and stand in front of the judge who is Jesus Christ. He will decide whether we are innocent or guilty based upon the following:

Those who had received Him as Savior and had their sins forgiven will not be condemned. They received the gift of everlasting life from Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:1) They gain entrance into Heaven and the presence of God.

However, those who rejected Him as Savior and did not have their sins forgiven will be condemned. They will not gain entrance into Heaven but will be separated from God and sentenced to punishment for all eternity. (2 Thessalonians 1:9)

You see...the Bible is very clear on this issue. Where a person spends eternity depends upon how they view Jesus Christ. (John 3:36)

Scripture also emphasizes that God's judgment will be fair - there will be no partiality. (Psalm 7:11) (Jeremiah 17:10)

But...Here's The Good News...

Because God loves us, in spite of our rebellion, He sent His Son Jesus Christ to pay our sin debt by dying in our place on the cross. He carried the sins of the world (everyones, including yours) to the cross. Therefore, because of His great sacrifice, He bridged the vast gap between God and ourselves. (1 Timothy 2:5)

And...by His great sacrifice, He made a way for forgivness of our sins and a way for those that receive Him as Savior not to die but spend eternity in Heaven with Him. He is the gift from God available to everyone. (John 11:25)

This is "good news" for everyone. It is the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He, Jesus Christ came and paid our sin debt by dying on the cross as a holy sacrifice for our sins. And then, God raised Him from the dead and He lives forever. (Acts 2:24) Jesus Christ did it all and He is the Gift from God. (John 3:16)

Why is this important to you?

The question to you and the rest of the world is; where will you spend eternity? God's gift of forgiveness and eternal life through Jesus Christ is offered to each one of us and we must individually accept or reject Him. This will be the most important decision of your life. Everyone regardless of race, religion, education and wealth must decide what they will do. Your decision to accept or reject God's gift will have an everlasting eternal affect on yourself.

How do we receive this gift?

Like any other gift, God's gift of life doesn't become ours until we accept it. Just as we can refuse the gift someone offers us, so we can also refuse God's gift.

But why would we? The moment we accept God's gift of life we are changed. We are born again of the Spirit. We become a "believer and follower of Jesus Christ". We are a "Christian". Click here for More Good News for those who accept Jesus Christ!

When should we do this?

This gift of God from Jesus Christ is only available during our life time and no one knows the duration of their life. After we die this gift can no longer be received.

What will be your decision?

Every person is going to spend eternity somewhere. The destination is determined during this lifetime by the choice we make to either accept or reject Jesus offer of forgiveness.

Doing nothing is a decision and is the same as rejecting Jesus. Don't reject him any longer.

If your heart is tugging at you to receive this gift from God, just ask Him for it.
He will hear you.

Start by simply talking to God. Tell Him you want to receive Jesus Christ now. Pray a prayer like this:

"Oh God, I am a sinner. I'm sorry for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. Please forgive me.
I believe Jesus Chirst is Your Son. I believe He died on the cross for my sins and You raised Him to life.
I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward, forever.
I invite You to come into my heart and life right now and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I receive this great gift of salvation.

    In Jesus name, Amen."

What now...

If you said this simple prayer and meant it in your heart then God is right now changing you.

You see, it is by God's grace you have been saved, through your faith. It is the gift of God and not by anything you have done. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Now, we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

Steps to Peace with God will show you what you have just done and what to do next.
