Trouble may arrive without warning, but it never arrives without God’s knowledge. When the waves rise and the way ahead is hard to see, we can choose faith over fear and remember that the Lord is still with us.
When storms in life come…
- Pray before you panic.
- Trust in God before you understand.
- Worship God before you see the answer.
- Remember God’s past faithfulness.
- Listen for God’s guidance above the noise.
- Reassure yourself that God is always with you.
- Persevere until the storm is over.
God’s Promises During the Storm
When trouble comes, God’s Word gives us more than comforting thoughts. It gives us truth to believe and a clear way to respond.
Pray Before You Panic
Thank God for past help. Praise Him for who He is. Then call out to Him in prayer before fear takes control.
“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17
Trust in God Before You Understand
You do not have to understand everything God is doing before you can trust Him and follow His direction.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6
Worship God Before You See the Answer
Worship turns our attention from the size of the storm to the greatness of our God. Praise Him while you are still waiting.
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.” Psalm 42:11
Remember God’s Past Faithfulness
Remembering what God has already done gives us courage to trust Him with what lies ahead.
“I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds.” Psalm 77:11–12
Listen for God’s Guidance Above the Noise
Quiet your heart, listen for the Lord’s direction, and ask Him to show you the next faithful step.
“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

Reassure Yourself That God Is Always With You
Speak God’s promises to your own heart. You may feel alone, but the Lord has never abandoned you.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

Persevere Until the Storm Is Over
God may not remove the storm immediately, but He promises strength, refuge, and His sustaining presence while you walk through it.
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” Isaiah 43:2
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
